Santa Fe U-Haul Kidnapping Caught on Camera

Surveillance Audio and Video Helped Confirm the Crime

Watch national coverage from NBC News

In the early morning hours of April 8, 2025, a U-Haul was seen moving slowly through a quiet Santa Fe neighborhood. Residents heard banging noises and muffled voices coming from the truck but weren’t sure what was happening.

A custom surveillance system installed by Active InSite captured clear video and audio of the U-Haul as it passed. The footage revealed loud pounding and shouting from inside the cargo area - sounds that were easy to dismiss in the moment, but became critical after review.

After neighbors reviewed the footage, it became clear something serious had occurred. The recording helped them understand what they had witnessed and gave authorities valuable evidence. Police responded quickly and located the vehicle. Two individuals were found locked in the back of the U-Haul, and the driver — 50-year-old Stacy Walker — was taken into custody.

According to police, the victims were assisting with unloading when the suspect suddenly closed the door and drove off. One victim suffered a back injury during the incident. Walker faces charges including kidnapping, fleeing police, and assault on a peace officer.

The surveillance footage provided by Active InSite helped confirm what happened and is expected to assist in the prosecution. The clarity of both video and audio helped capture essential details and supported the timeline of events.
